new design thread – design packs and ideas for schools…

It would appear that the way curriculum is currently set in England means that a lot of kids are studying the same subject elements at the same time, and yet it would also appear that the resources are not around or established at a high level for the teachers to use… seems strange… to help out I have been creating some resources for a teacher – check out the resources for schools page on the blog…

If you don’t know what I am wanging on about – imagine you are trying to get the kids in your class engaged in a design or craft based extension to a subject like the second world war – what do you do – hand them some lego… or ask them to make a diorama – but how… what do you make it out of – how can you do this cheaply and effectively… well it’s a challenge… mostly it ends up being some rather sad, yet creative efforts with some poor and undeliverable material choices being used…

So I thought I would give it a go and see what the kids made of some ideas to create dioramas of London during the blitz… check out the blog page…

The discipline of making models and form cheaply and easily reminds me of my school and university days – I made one moving architectural piece out of beermats because I could not afford card – those were the days…
